Sheppard-Myers Dam Rehabilitation Project Starts
If you have been in the area of the Sheppard-Myers Dam in recent weeks, you have no doubt noticed a lot of construction activity and staging and may have wondered what was happening. The Borough has begun work on a 9.5M project to rehabilitate the dam facility and bring it up to current PA DEP Dam Safety standards for high hazard dams. This project will include the removal and replacement of the emergency spillway, restoration of the intake tower and various other site improvements to enhance the function and security of the dam. This project will take approximately a year and a half to complete (with a short shutdown for the winter months). As the work progresses, Borough staff will issue updates, including aerial photos of the site.
