BOROUGH COUNCIL ACTIONS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:
BOROUGH BUILDING NOW OPEN FOR WALK-IN ACCESS: Effective Monday, March 22, 2021 the Borough Building was open to the public for walk-in access.
NEW ZONING ORDINANCE: Council voted to advertise a public hearing for May 6, 2021, with the intent to adopt a new Zoning Ordinance on May 26, 2021. The draft Ordinance is posted on the Borough website and is available for review at the Borough Building on 44 Frederick Street.
PARKING: Council approved contracts for $25,345 for an app-based parking system and a kiosk.
CABLE FRANCHISE AGREEMENT: Council approved an agreement with Shentel to build a new cable and internet service in the Borough over the next two years.
VEHICLE ACQUISTIONS: Council approved the purchase or lease of vehicles including a marked Interceptor at a cost of $42,500 and an unmarked evidence transport at $34,350 for the Police Department, a front-end loader at a net cost after insurance proceeds of $84,463 for the Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant, and a tandem axle refuse truck at $239,968 for the Public Works Department.
HANOVER KIWANIS 100th ANNIVERSAY DONATION: Borough Council accepted and thanked the Kiwanis Club for a pavilion to be placed at Moul Field and installed by Borough personnel this Spring.
DROUGHT EMERGENCY RESCINDED: R Borough Council rescinded voluntary restrictions in water usage because the dams have reached adequate capacity.
LOCAL ECONOMIC REVITALIZATION TAX ASSISTANCE (LERTA): Council approved a partial tax exemption under the LERTA Ordinance for the rehabilitation of 108 Chestnut Street by Ilyes Holding 4.
PERSONNEL POLICIES: Council approved policies on the Americans with Disabilities Act, Prevention of Harassment, and Equal Opportunity.
FORESTRY: Approved service orders for $33,053 with Dowling Forestry to perform 2021 herbicide treatment and timber sale activities.
